My name is Captain Kgomotso Phatsima, I am a military pilot and a flight safety officer in Botswana Defense Force. I am one of the first female officers to ever fly the country's military planes. I have 8 years’ experience in military aviation.

Eight years ago, I took a vow to be the shield of the nation, it has been a mesmerising, challenging, exciting, risky and absolutely fulfilling journey. Six years ago I started a non-profit organisation called Dare to Dream.

Dare to Dream is a non-profit organisation aimed at encouraging, empowering, and attracting the empowerment of youth, women and girls in aviation and aerospace as well STEM  ( Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematics ) education awareness and equipping young people with business and entrepreneurial skills.

We have traversed the country impacting Communities, Changing lives, most importantly giving young people a sense of purpose in their education! I am a volunteer for the International Civil Aviation Organization Next Generation of Aviation Professionals Programme ICAO NGAP . I have been instrumental in the advancement of aviation activities I am also a Co-Founder of Women in Aviation Botswana Chapter which is affiliated to the US based non-profit organisation Women in Aviation International. For this reason I won the Botswana Youth Awards Best Female of the Year 2017 for my contribution in advancing aviation and for being the Ambassador of Youth in Aviation and Aerospace in Botswana.

I have set aside my life to help young people; give them a sense of hope and overall positivity not only towards aviation and aerospace but life skills in general across Southern Africa.

Joining the Captain Judy Crew of Ambassadors will help assist with this goal. Currently, I and my team are lobbying for sponsorship to acquire an aircraft enabling us to spread our wings flying across Southern African countries touching young people lives.  We look forward to hearing from you and how you would like make a difference in young peoples’ lives!
